Why Maz?

Maz is a short nickname for our family name. I’ve adopted it as my street photographer persona.

Hi, I’m Robin Maryon.

I am a street photographer based in the North West of England.

Street photography is a very broad church and covers a multitude of styles all of which are valid. My personal style and eye is drawn towards the ‘traditional’ definition of street - uunsual moments in everyday life which I try to capture when I see them. I like to find simple clean compositions with strong shape and colour. However, those moments are few and far between and you need to be in the right place at the right time. This can be helped by being on the streets as much as possible, but like most non-professional street photographer I have other things that demand my time causing photography to slip down the list.

This is where my projects come in. They give me the chance to find interesting things as I am out and collect them together. I enjoy attending events like Pride, Eurovision and the Venice Carnival to explore the juxtapositions of everyday life with the glamour and excitement of the event.

As a graphic designer I also enjoy finding patterns and colours in the built environment. You will hopefully see my vision and eye through the images on this website.

I have many projects on the go which I will add to the site as they reach critical mass. These include “Holidogs”, “Man about town”, “Project 100”, “Double Yellow” and many more! I would also like to document some of the UK’s strange traditions like Morris dancing and cheese rolling. Please stay tuned for these on here and visit my Instagram for more frequent posts.
